My site is to publish my free PDF book ‘Q & A – Christian Communion in Questions & Answers’, no more. Can I have this site for free?
Kindly note, I don’t & won’t have ‘support us’ or ‘donate’ or suchlike ask.
Thank you. -
Hi there,
Yes you are welcome to remain as a free site for as long as you wish. Most people upgrade when they need a feature that is not included on our free sites, such as the ability to upload video, “plugins” or 3rd party themes, ecommmerce, 24/7 live chat support, etc.
But you don’t have to upgrade if you don’t want to, that is just fine. :)
Learn more about our WordPress.com upgrade plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you, Jerry,
If I understand you correctly, I have nothing to worry about.
So, I made my front page, some posts, and attached a PDF.
When I press “Launch”, nothing happened, but WP ads come up.
I tried to find my site on the Internet and couldn’t.
Any suggestions?

Hi Igor,
When launching your site, you’ll be asked again to choose a plan and domain. Since you want to keep your site free, you can skip those and keep the subdomain you chose before.
https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/#launch-your-site.

Thank you.
Yet that does not help.
WP, so polite, asks me to chose to pay again & again.
Can anybody enter my non-secret site and launch it?

Hi Igor,
Please try launching it by going to My Sites > Manage > Settings > General > Launch Site.

Thank you. I got it. Better late than never.
Now, when I search the Internet by the name of my site, I get to my Dashboard or Administrative page or so. But how to see the front page as a Visitor does? -
You’ll see the front page of your site at https://christian498979569.wordpress.com/
If you want to see it exactly as a visitor does, view it in your browser’s private or incognito window, or log out of WordPress.com at https://wordpress.com/me/account first.

Hi again,
Please remind me how to remove “Welcome to your new site …” from my front page?
Thank you.
Igor -
Be so kind as to advise me, how to update the https link to my updated book in a post.
Thanks again,
Igor -
Hello Igor,
This is a cover block on the page.
You would need to select the block and then click remove as seen here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/#remove-a-block
I hope this helps!

Hi,
A friend of mine and also I tried to download my Q & A book from my
<https://christian498979569.wordpress.com/> site
but we received “404 error” as the answer. There are 2 links on that site — mine and Obooko.com — both failed.
Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Hi there,
I see that in the second column you have attempted to add your PDF. I can’t see the way you added that, but it is not the way that we recommend. Instead you can use the “File Block” instead, which will add a button visitors can click to initiate the download.
This is difficult to explain in words, so I recorded a quick video to show you how to find and set up the File Block.
You can view the at this link: https://d.pr/v/SNCBsF
As for the link to Obooko.com, I’m not sure what the issue is, can you explain?
When I click on the link on your homepage I am taken to another website: https://www.obooko.com/free-religious-books/q-a-christian-communion-in-questions-answers
To clarify, you are trying to send site visitors there to that page, yes? I see that when I click the link and am taken to the Obooko.com site, there is a button (on their site) to also download. Are you not trying to send people to that site, but instead trying to have some other result?
Thanks for the additional info!

Howdy Jerry,
I rechecked the Obooko.com link — it works, yet not for dummies — so the case is closed. Sorry for my slow understanding.
I added Obooko.com to my site to welcome my Guests & Readers there as Obooko Team welcomed me. Also, I provided their link as the “alternative downloading” my book, just in case. Sometimes, things go wrong on one site but are OK on another, you know.Jerry, I appreciate you for explaining things to me. Now it works.

Friends,
A couple more questions.1. When I get to my site, It greets me with “Your cart awaits payment” or so.
How could that cart be pushed somewhere else?2. There are a lot of books & articles you recommend. Since I’m unable to check ’em out, even briefly, can that recommendation be configured? Say, only Christian stuff comes over? Please ignore this question if it contradicts your policy.
Thanks, Igor

How could that cart be pushed somewhere else? What exactly do you want to do? If you want to remove items from your cart you can click to message to view it and then click on the Edit link. Then click on the trash bin icon to remove the items you don’t want.

You mean on the Obooko website? That site is not hosted by us and therefore we don’t have a way to filter out things.

1. I did not order any items. When I open my card, it shows a list of pay-plan things, that’s all.
2. I did not mean Obooko. I meant my WordPress site Home page, where many books of WordPress Members are listed.
Thank you.

It looks like your cart is empty now 👍.

It sounds like you’re referring to the Reader. It’s a place where you will see updates from all the blogs you’re following. You can also find some suggestions there.
Here is more information about that:

Thank you.
When I had to explain my questions, I removed the stuff proposed one by one. Hopefully, that won’t be taken as my disrespect to the writers. Just not my subject, that’s all.
Igor.
