Huge increase in traffic on private site

I started a thread on this months ago. Last reply was from WordPress admin, who then closed the thread so I couldn’t reply. So I’ve had to unnecessarily start a new thread for anyone who is having the same issue as me, ie massive spikes in visitor stats to a private wordpress site.

The resolve from Admin is that they have fixed a glitch where admin visits to my own site were being counted as visits. This is nonsense.

I visit the dashboard of my private site between 1-10 times per week. I live in the UK.

I was getting over 1500 visits in one day during the spikes from Norway, Ireland or the USA. In addition, I discovered that for 4 years there have been downloads of 3 files from my site that weren’t me or any of my invited site visitors.

So although the site stats have settled back down to normal levels in the past 3 weeks I don’t believe for a second the issue was down to counting my own visits to my site because that doesn’t fit with the issue I experienced.

Just saying this here on the forum for anyone else having the same issue.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is weird… I don’t have nearly that volume of visits, and I don’t pay for premium features so I don’t know where the visitor count is coming from, but I’ve got multiple “visitors” in the last seven days to a private site that I only updated yesterday for the first time in almost a year. I also have one subscriber? How is that possible? It can’t be me, because another private site I own has zero subscribers. I’ve double-checked all my sites’ privacy/visibility settings, and this isn’t making sense.
