Huge miscommunication my site is gone and no one will give me real answers

    Hi-

    I was told I that I didn’t need to pay my WP renewal fee from my support contact at SquareSpace since I switched over to a SS site this spring. The domain originally belonged to WP. This Sept I was charged so I asked WP for my money back. I didn’t know this would delete my domain. Nor did I know that my site had to be active to switch the domain over to SquareSpace. So when I talked to support at WP they said I had to pay 80 plus the 46 to get my site back and SquareSpace could help. When I contacted SS they said this was something you could facilitate not them.

    I just want my site back. I’m not sure why I have to pay 3x a much after a simple mistake. Could you please charge me the initial 46 and resurface my domain?

    I’m so frustrated and confused from the lack of support on both ends. Everyone seems to be out to rip me off and I don’t know what to do.

    It’s best to ensure domain and site are both at the same place to prevent issues like this. Letting a domain expire past the grace period and reach the redemption period means extra charges need to be paid to the registrar wherever your site is hosted if you let the expiry date reach that point. You do have the (risky) option of waiting and hoping the domain is eventually released and you could then purchase it elsewhere.
