Huge stats drop-off

I’ve had a huge drop in stats during the last 48 hrs. A consistent 150 views per day (for 18 months) has dropped to less than a dozen over the past two days.
What happened?
My sitemeter AND flag counter are registering this huge drop, as well, so it’s not only WordPress.
I have not added any new posts for a year and a half, just a few updates on some posts. Would this have some bearing this unusual phenomena?

Quite possibly since you haven’t really changed the site in that long, Google has just implemented a downgrade on you. They do occasionally re-work things and rewarding sites that have new content is an important part of what they do.
Also, stats DO go down on the weekends, but not usually by 90%!

Looking at your past stats it appears that search engines were responsible for the bulk of your traffic. A lot of that traffic came from searches for a handful of similar terms.
I’d guess you’ve dropped off the first page of Google search results for those terms – possibly because you haven’t posted in a while, or perhaps because Google found a different site that it thinks is more relevant.

I wonder if the drop off is due to the world press home page change. There is no longer a listing of topics such as NEWS, POLITICS, RELIGION, etc.Did it get dumped or just moved to where I can no longer find it?

It’s not there anymore; there are a couple of threads about it in the forum. That change wouldn’t have had anything to do with this problem, though, because those posts wouldn’t have been featured on that page for a year and a half, if then.

I can pin-point the beginning of this major reduction, starting about 9-10 A.M. Friday, August 14….so, yes it could be a Google thing, where they assumed the site was “dead”.
It was just “sleeping”, so perhaps I’ll throw a new post it’s way, and see what Google does with it.

I have also noticed that I had a huge drop off starting August 14th. Also I have noticed that my all time stats are missing a huge chunk or stats from mu all time list. I had posts that were close to 500 views and now they are missing.
