Huge text size, why???

  • Unknown's avatar

Front page – text is normal. If I view post using “previous entries”, everything is normal. But if I view the same posts going through the archive or cathegories, the text is sooooo huge, like size 28 in Word. For example: http://zogca.wordpress.com/2008/07/

I haven’t changed anything. It has just happened. How can I fix it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How are you writing your posts? Are you using a separate offline program or are you writing them in the wordpress editor? If in the editor, are you using the visual editor, or are you writing them in the HTML editor?

I just ran the referenced page through the W3C validator and it says there are 136 errors on that page alone and most of them have to do with missing ending tags for bold and italic. Your main page, http://zogca.wordpress.com/ also shows a lot of the same errors although the total number is only 72.

First thing I would do is to go to settings > writing in your dashboard and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “save changes” at the bottom of the page.

Next, I would open each post that is having the problem, make one minor change (such as adding a space and then deleting it) and then click “update post” and wordpress should automatically correct the open tags issues.

I really don’t know anything about this. I just know that everything was okay before today and now it’s okay again, as it if I fixed. And I haven’t touched anything. I really don’t know much about this computer stuff, I just type. But as it is fixed now … I better not touch anything. Thank you for your help.

@zogca: A couple of hours ago I switched my test blog (which was ok) to the theme you’re using, and got the same problem; now it’s back to normal with me too. So it was probably just a temporary WP malfunction.

Hey, I did exactly the same thing! When I first looked an hour or so after the OP, my test-blog showed huge type in the archives pages. So I deleted a post with a really big image in it (I was seeing the sidebar getting pushed to the bottom in some of the narrower themes as well). But that didn’t help this situation. And now it does appear to have “fixed” itself. odd

Staff tinkering in the back room?

Perhaps “An overflow of good converts to bad,”
and there may be some wonderful surprise in store?
or may be they are just keeping the wolf from blowing down the door.

You never know with staff. :-)

“And now it does appear to have “fixed” itself. “

    That make me happy

    zogca,

Even so, you probably should address the issues tsp told you about above:

If you don’t do something so straightforward now, it may come back and bite you later! I knew my giant image would cause problems in my test blog—did it on purpose to re-create a problem—but you don’t want to do that in your “real” blog!

Just a tip, but tsp does have a long record of reliable advice here…

Yes, I just checked and those errors are still there, so they do need to be corrected or at some point they will cause issues.
