hundreds of posts lost when moved from msn live space
-
Hi everyone,
I just moved my live space to wordpress. As i have a wordpress account, i chose to migrate posts to my existing wordpress site, which is http://eway.wordpress.com/
However, all the posts in my live space written before the day my wordpress account has been created are lost!! There were hundreds of them!! And now i cannot access my live space at all. Even when i tried to type in my live space address (http://eway.spaces.live.com/), it is re-directed to wordpress.
Does anyone have any idea about it? Can i do the migration again? Or how can i find my lost posts?
Please help! Thanks!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Read some more of the Livespaces background. Staff have had to get involved in hundreds of imports:

thanks guys!
i did read all the topics about live spaces. but nothing helps. :-(
i also have contacted support directly, but haven’t got any replies yet… ;-( -
Well, if you look at the time delays, it’s not surprising. Migrating 30 million blogs, many of which need help, is a time-consuming thing. Make sure their response isn’t in your Spam folder on your email and continue to wait. There’s no reason to panic, even if it’s anxiety-making, waiting.

thank you so much, thesacredpath and raincoaster!
i did the migration about 6hrs ago. but still no more posts coming… ive checked my spam. nothings in it.
just found out that actually all the posts before September 2008 are lost! my wordpress account was created in 2006….so there are more posts missing…. :-(
hope i can still find them…..

MS isn’t deleting anything, just doing the redirect, so staff here has access to all the posts. They will get them for you.

Didn’t MSN tell everyone to backup their blog or teach them how to? MSN handled this so poorly.

I had the same difficulty, but the staff migrated everything from Windows Live Spaces successfully today,….however, there is still a problem with the font size/style being incompatible…so the larger fonts are squashed in, making the postings unreadable. I’ve been sitting here this evening, messing with html code in order to change each individual entry individually. I’m hoping a better solution comes up as I want to be able to access my writing in future. This is the problem with this sort of cultural social networking. We have SOME sense that our writing/thoughts/reflections are permanent. I dunno…I’m still fond of photo albums on my book shelf. I hope you can get this sorted out. It’s a little trying.

Hello there,
Please see this post at the top of the forum https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/did-you-just-move-here-from-live-spaces-welcome?replies=1If you are you experiencing trouble using WordPress.com please take a look at the support page dedicated to the upgrade process here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrading-from-windows-live-spaces/
Please note that the following items do *NOT* come over in the import process:
Photos that were in albums but not within posts
Photos that weren’t used in posts are not part of the import process because they aren’t actually part of the Windows Live Spaces blog. They are part of the Photos or Skydrive service. The photo albums from Skydrive are always accessible and aren’t going anywhere. Anyone can find them at http://photos.live.com/.Modules
Lists
Please see here > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/live-spaces-retrieving-your-lists?replies=1Pending/draft posts
Right now, the draft posts are trapped in limbo and WordPress.com Staff are communicating with Live Spaces about them. The migration to WordPress.com is permanent. If your import is not going as expected, please contact Staff http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

MSN provided neither a backup method NOR an export method for Live Spaces.
There is an export method provided right now, but it has to be done before you migrate over to WordPress.com and is just a zipfile containing HTML, CSS, and images.
It’s not something we could import here on WordPress.com.

Your import was “stuck” after 25 entries. I’ve kicked it in the head and it’s now grabbing more. Please let me know if it doesn’t get everything.
I’m sorry these problems take a short while for us to get to, but we do get to everyone who had a problem with the import in time. We’re doing our best to make sure this goes well for everyone.

Hi everyone! all the posts have been imported about 3 hrs ago! Yay!!! :D:D:D
Thanks markel for your help. The Happiness Engineers have been really helpful. :-)
And thank you so much guys! Much appreciated! -

I assume everyone’s content is there somewhere but just needs to be found by the engineers. It’s just the initial shock at first when you realize OMG everything is gone and lost forever.
Now I’m thinking what if someone is ill or lying in a coma in the hospital. Then six months later, their blogs are gone forever because it was never migrated anywhere. What about those people? Were emails sent out to all members saying migrate now? Hopefully to the people who might not be able to get to their blogs, someone else has access to their email accounts so they can take appropriate action.
