Huntt theme video post support
-
I am wondering how the Huntt theme would accommodate video posts. Any idea how I can check this before purchase? The theme demo at the designer’s website seems to include video posts, but the demo on WordPress.com does not.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sure you can upload your own video in most themes so long as you’ve upgraded to the WordPress.com Premium plan. With the free plan you can embed YouTube URLs of course.
-
I don’t need to upload video, just to embed a Youtube video. If all themes support it, why do they not include it in their demo?

There is no Huntt theme here at wordpress.COM.
https://wordpress.com/themes/HunttIt sounds like you may be confusing wordpress.COM hosted blogs and wordpress.ORG sites on paid hosting.
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.See:
Themes »Uploading Custom Themes
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/There is no upgrade you can purchase here at WordPress.COM that changes that reality.
See: Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress
https://move.wordpress.com/WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, and if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Yikes! I just found it here https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/huntt/
The support doc for it is at https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/huntt/support/As for the video we cannot answer that question. However, we do know that WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes.

All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=videos
Type in videos and click to search https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=videos
Results Videos https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/re: embedding videos
We embed videos into pages and posts and no upgrade is required unless or until you exceed your free media space allocation. https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/The video embeds in posts and pages that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required are found here.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/Video shortcodes are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/#video
Note to post your own videos requires a videopress upgrade unless they are on youtube or another source site that is supported and the videopress support doc location is https://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/ As a workaround, keep in mind that you can also upload your media to another service like youtube videos and insert it into your posts from there.
Example:
For youtube embedding into wordpress.COM blogs see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/For using the shortcode see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#embedding-with-a-shortcode
For troubleshooting see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#troubleshooting
NOTE: If you are trying to embed a youtube channel code that will not work.

@dochamin WordPress.com has inspired me. It can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.
“Just copy the YouTube video’s URL from your web browser’s address bar while viewing the video. Paste it on a line by itself in your Visual editor as you draft your post or page (make sure that it is not hyperlinked). You will see the video when you preview or publish your post (or page).”
-
Of course you will view it – but that sequence of actions will part me with $70, and I was wondering if there’s a demo of a video post in this theme somewhere before I take that committment.
-
I will view what? I was just trying to help you and save you wading through all the support files that Timethief has given you by reminding you that when you said yesterday “I don’t need to upload video, just to embed a Youtube video” that you can do that for free with any free theme here.

If you’re set on the Huntt theme then Googling I soon found the Huntt theme author and sites using that theme containing video such as here:-
-
Thanks, that’s a start – could one know from the looks of it that https://marydutra.com/category/videos/ is hosted on WordPress.com? The theme is sold in several places with slightly different versions. One of the differences seems to be the video posts.
