Hyperlink box from Media Edit page
-
I would like to propose a new post concept for WP: “phantom” posts or pages.
Right now you have posts that are divided in header and body sections.
This is fine for most purposes, but there are cases when a user might might want a post to directly link to some other URL.
The current Post Link functionality is merely decorative.
What is need is functional support for hyperlinking from a blog post to some other URL, possibly in a different domain.
This would be accomplished via clicking or tapping on a post’s title or associated feature image.
I see this as especially useful for mobile users, eliminating an unnecessary step (a link on the body of a post).
So in effect a post title and associated featured image would represent a hyperlink stub area for what I am calling a “phantom” post.
The actual post content would be null, or empty, but would still have an associated post-id that you can play using CSS.
Finally, I would strongly recommend that hrefs be given unique link IDs in the body of an tag, to simplify CSS selection.
the current attribute selection method, using the rel=”bookmark” method is less than optimal. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
