Hyperlink in post being redirected by wordpress?

The post in question is http://uncommongeek.com/2014/07/24/citm-merch-review/ And the link in question is at the bottom of the post.
The issue is this: The link is suppose to take readers directly to
http://secure.checksinthemail.com/line.aspx?lineid=1524
but instead takes them to
but, while I am logged into wordpress, the link takes me to the correct page. I noticed while at work (tested this issue on multiple computers and mobile devices) an address quickly pops up in the address bar that starts with something like “redirect.wordpress.com”. I have checked the link multiple times even in HTML and everything points to the correct site except when people are not logged into wordpress. Needless to say, Checks in the Mail wondered if I linked the wrong site by accident.

UPDATE
I used bit.ly to correct the redirecting issue, but I would still like to know how and why this happened to avoid future issues.

It is indeed very weird, since there is nothing I saw in the code referring to the second link.
