hyperlink to local file

  i want to access a local file (video – mp4) via my blog. how can i do this?

  OS: mac os x 10.4.11
  file: file:///users/username/documents/dok/filename.mp4
  blog: private blog, no access for other users

  when i copy this url and paste it in my browser, it works and opens the file
  and plays the video.

  in wordpress i couldnt manage to get the link working or do i have to do it
  with adding a video, but adding a video resulted in nothing since it wont
  support adding localhost videos/ local videos.

  or should i do it with a fileloc file (hyperlink file)?

  You cannot if it is located on your computer. Your computer would have to be set up directly on the internet and also be set up as a server with a static IP server address. Believe me, you do not want that as it opens your computer up to all the hackers on the internet.

  Are you actually hosted here at wordpress.COM or is it on another webhost?

  thx for your help.

  even if it would be possible with a webserver, i wouldnt like
  to install it and run it. it’s too much work, and not worth it.

  i just thought maybe there is an easy solution.

  The easy solution is to purchase the space upgrade and upload the video to your blog.

  its already on youtube, but i dont want to stream it everytime i wanna watch it, so id like to hyperlink to local file.

  doesnt matter, its not that important xD

  If it is on YouTube, then you don’t need to link it from your desktop. Just use the YouTube shortcut (check the FAQ).
