How to link to existing media?

    I have a pdf file in my media library that I would like to hyperlink to in a post. Ideally, the pdf file would appear in a new browser window. I’ve tried using the hyperlink tool, but I can’t find the pdf file using the dialog box.

    Howdy,

    To create a link to an item in your Media Library, you will need to go to your Media Library and click on “Edit” underneath the file to which you want to link. Then, copy the URL in the text box next to “File URL.”

    Following the directions outlined here, insert the copied URL as the “Destination URL” and click Save.

    If you would like to have your pages and links open in new windows, you can change the settings for that in your Settings > Sharing page and select “New Window” from the drop-down menu next to “Open links in.”
