Hyperlinks not working on site? But, page links are fine. Please advise and thanks. DEM

Hyperlinks not working? Only happens in Admin mode; not public mode. Hence, I can’t add post, comments or change anything.

The blog I need help with is medicalexecutivepost.com.
    Thanks.

Do you mean you aren’t able to click on hyperlinks in your admin menu, or you aren’t able to create them?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Liz,

Both; visit the site to see what I mean.
    http://www.MedicalExecutivePost.com

They work as a visitor, but not as the administrator.
I have several other Word Press blogs without difficulty?
Thanks so much for looking into this.

Did this problem start after you published your most recent post? If so, I suspect you have an open HTML tag that is causing the problem.

I’m taking a look to see if I can find it.

There is quite a lot of HTML in your posts. Are you copy/pasting from Word or something similar?

    Hi again, Liz,

Many thanks for your fast response.

YOU ASKED: Did this problem start after you published your most recent post? Probably.

And, Yes I typically use MSFT WORD to write a post, and then copy and paste it into the blog.

Thanks SO MUCH for your help.

    PS LIZ,
My entire right side bar just disappeared, and I was not even on the site or widget ap.
    Thanks again,

That was me. A colleague and I are trying to find the problem code, which involves removing elements and putting them back. We won’t make any irreversible changes.

I typically use MSFT WORD to write a post, and then copy and paste it into the blog.

To keep this from happening in the future, you’ll want to stop doing that. When you copy/paste from Word you end up with code you can’t see that can cause problems like this one.

The good news is this problem wasn’t caused by copying and pasting as I originally thought. The bad news is it’s a problem in your theme. Since your theme has been retired and is no longer supported, it’s unlikely to be fixed.

The second bit of good news is we have another more modern theme that could work for you. You can check it out here

    https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/

If that one doesn’t work, you can check out all of our three column themes here.

    Hi again, Liz,

Unfortunately, your 3 column suggestion translates terribly for my other site BusinessofMedicalPractice.com I used it as a test. And, now I cant get it back [sigh]. Please advise.

Once fixed, how can we get the Medical Execute Post back to as close as possible – to what it was. Eight years of work went into it and I fear translations will be a mess; if impossible to fix.

Your thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    THANKS.
    Dr. Dave

I can revert your theme on that site back to Digg3. Please confirm you’d like me to do that.

As for next steps, let’s wait a bit. A bug report has been submitted, and a fix might be possible.

    Hello Liz,
    Trust U R having a good day.

YES-please do revert back to Digg3.

And, patience is a good strategy for now.
    Exactly what I was thinking.

    THANK YOU so much!

Done. You may have to make some adjustments to get things exactly back to the way they were, but you are on your way.

I’ll let you know when I have an update about the bug.

This has been fixed, so you should be all back to normal.

    LIZ,
Thank you very much for all this.
    The fix looks good.
    Much appreciated.
