Hyperlinks not working

  Hi,

  I am not great with technology so please forgive me if I’ve been dumb. Trying to add hyperlinks to my blog posts in the usual way (using the button or ctrl-k). They simply refuse to work. The links do not appear when I finish in the hyperlink menu. I use WordPress in the browser rather than installed on my PC. Any idea what I’m doing wrong? It was fine a week or so ago.

  Hi Ruth,

  You aren’t being dumb :) There are two ways you can add links to your blog posts.

  1. Copy the link you wish to add. Then in the main text of your blog post, highlight the word you want to add the link to and click ‘ctrl-v’ (paste). This will create your link.

  2. Using the link tool in the visual editor where you type your blog posts. There is some documentation on how to do this here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/links/#how-to-create-links-with-the-visual-editor

  Let me know how you get on or if anything doesn’t make sense.

  Used method 1. Worked instantly. Stupidly I already knew about that method but neglected to try it. Strange that it doesn’t work in the menu itself.

  It does work that way, but the link and edit button doesn’t work anymore. I would like to be able to search through my posts and have the ability set it so it clicks to another window
