Hyperlinks to images in gallery
-
Hi dear WordPress People – I would like to display the images on my website (book covers) in a gallery, but with the images linked to the pages within my blog where the books are reviewed. Unfortunately it looks like once you have the images in a gallery, you cannot link them to pages – the hyperlink function disappears. Is it possible to do this? (http://sevencircumstances.com/books-reviews/1860-2/). Right now it’s not looking so good, I’m afraid. There is a gallery at the top and then the other covers kind of cascade down in a messy lump.
Alternatively, is there a way to insert the hyperlinked images on a page so that they look like they are on a grid and don’t kind of randomly re-organize themselves? I do try to keep the sizes the same.

Hello there, Marthe,
You are correct, images in a gallery will not link to pages.
You were also correct to add those hyperlinked images straight into the content of your page.
I will give you a couple more hints, so you can better control the spacing of the images/captions.
My suggestion is to add an HTML table to your page. Here is an HTML table generator you can use, if you’re not familiar with how to do this on your own:
http://www.quackit.com/html/html_table_generator.cfm
Once you decide on the parameters of the table, and you create it in the generator, you’ll paste the code into the Text tab of your page editor.
Then, you can click on the Visual tab, and copy and paste the image codes into the cells. Alternatively, you can start fresh, click your cursor inside an empty cell, then click your ADD MEDIA button and install those thumbnails/links.
This way, you can control the spacing between your images, and you can still have your images/captions link to the post/pages you wish.
If you need to experiment a bit, before committing to the page, you can always create a page you save only as a draft. It never needs to get published. Everytime you save/change something, just click the Preview button to see how it looks. Once you’re pleased you can copy everything from the Text tab, and then paste it into the Text tab of the “real” page.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Hi RobynI never thought of using a table!
That might just work. Thank you, I’ll try it out asap.
Thanks so much.

Hooray! It works! :-)I would never have known to try this, thank you Robyn.
The html table generator is very useful.
Now I can recreate those pages, but properly, this time around.Regards
