  Limited Number of WP Themes are available in .com, you can use WP Professionally by hosting WP.

  There are a couple of hundred themes available for wp.COM blogs. Many of them can be customized to suit your taste.

  Find and preview them while imagining what modifications you could do to make the them your own here:
  dashboard—>appearance—>themes

  Also check out the Theme Showcase where you can see how the themes work and see some blogs/sites using the themes in action:

  You can set up a private test blog to experiment with different themes without having your “real” blog constantly changing.
