I accidentally broke my website.

My website is comicmonstore.com (or comicmonstore.com/blog). I wondered if I could go to my settings and remove ‘blog’. So, without any critical thinking skills, I went to WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) and removed ‘/blog’ from both. I figured if it didn’t work, I could easily add it back and things would be fine. Apparently, that’s not how things work. Can anyone help?

    Hi,

I went to WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) and removed ‘/blog’ from both.

You can’t change a site address or a page address simply by removing an extension in the address bar, if that’s what you mean. However, presently the site https://comicmonstore.com/ exists, while the page https://comicmonstore.com/blog does not. When you go to the “blog” page URL, there is a message saying “The page you were looking for could not be found. It might have been removed, renamed, or did not exist in the first place.”

Thanks for trying but that literally didn’t help. I know it’s messed up. How do I fix it? When I try to enter/edit my site through the service provider (Aabaco/Yahoo Small Business), I can’t get into my site to edit it. There’s a message “404 – not found”.

    Hi,

It appears you are using the self-hosted version of WordPress. This forum is specifically for WordPress.com hosted site users. To get more specialized assistance for the version you are using, you can use the WordPress.org support forums. They might be able to help you out a bit better than we can. The link is below.

If you would like to see the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you can check out this page:

    Good luck! :)
