I accidentally changed the URL and now I cannot log in

    Hi!
In a moment of oversized smartness I tried to change the URL of my site to a shorter one – but woops! Then I wasn’t able to log in to the site and do anything at all.

Is there any wizards out there who can fix this for me? The original site is and I changed it to . I’d need nothing more than restoring it to the original and I won’t touch it again, I promise!

    Hi there:

We are unable to help because we don’t host your site directly on our WordPress.com managed hosting. Instead, your site is hosted with a different provider on a separate host, and we’re unable to access your site’s backend to take a closer look. But I can get you pointed in the right direction.

If you changed your URL in wp-admin without first creating the subdomain and configuring that domain on your hosting server, you would see those errors.

Here’s the guide over at WordPress.org that shows the different spots you can change that back:

    https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/

If you’re not comfortable editing your site in that manner, contact your hosting provider and they should be able to help.

If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

I hope this points you in the right direction.

OK, thanks a lot. I’ll take it with our host.
