I accidentally created a .me – how do I cancel?
-
Hi all. I really wanted to speak with someone at WordPress directly but can’t find any contact information. I registered a domain last month and paid for extra security. When I logged in a couple days ago to get into it, I realized I had a .me. I want a .com. I want to cancel the domain and purchase a new one. Is there anyway I can do that and get a refund? It’s been just over a month, but I haven’t edited it or touched it at all since purchasing it. What can I do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey Amanda,
Unfortunately, after 2 days you can’t get a refund for your domain.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/faq-renewing-and-canceling/#cancel-domainBut the good news is, you only spent $13 ;) You can also have both domains direct to your website!

I have, thank you. And I actually paid more than $13, because I signed up for the protection and something else. It was like $33, which, isn’t a lot, but compounded with having to re-pay for the whole process for a .com, would be $75ish combined.

Hi @amandasimon88, domain registrations can be refunded for the first 48 hours of their registration. After that the registration is set for the year unless you cancel.
But I went ahead and looked up your domain — the .com version was already registered elsewhere by someone in June. The domain has privacy so I can’t see the owner’s name, but was that you? Let us know if you already own the .com version of your domain. We’ll go from there.
