I accidentally deleted a domain name instead of moving it to a new blog, now I can't reregister

    Hi there,
I registered a new domain name tonight (whatstephsaw.com) with the intention of starting a new blog.
I accidentally linked it to my old blog (passionsmassion.com) and wasn’t sure how to fix it, so I cancelled it with the intention of starting again. Now the domain name I wanted says it’s unavailable, even though my cancellation has gone through. Can you help me start again?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I’m afraid that since you deleted it so quickly after you registered it, your domain has already been returned to the registry. They generally hold on to it for a couple of days and then release it back to the general public.

If you’d like, I can try and get a hold of them to re-activate the domain, or if you’d prefer you can wait for it to be released. Either is fine, just let me know which you’d rather pursue!

    Hi,

thanks for coming back to me so quickly. If it’s going to be released back in a couple of days, that should be fine. I read somewhere it would be lost for a year. As long as I can sort it out myself in a couple of days, that will be fine.

While that can conceivably happen in some cases, it almost never does and is usually the case in situations when someone had the domain for several days before cancelling it.

So in short, you should be fine!
