I activated the Château theme. However, I cannot get mine to appear like the theme example. In the theme example it automatically shows a few post on the first page. Then there is a page break with a title reading, “Recent Post.” Below this title it shows the 12 most recent post in block format including the title, date and a small excerpt of the post. When I activated the theme I can’t find an option to customize my blog to share that same format. It only list all of posts vertically and allows me to put a “Recent Post” option in the footer of the page.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sometimes consulting the detailed theme description page with set up instructions can clear up issue you have. See here https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/chateau/

You have the concise archives style format. Specifically see:

    Multiple Archive Styles
You can choose to display your archives in either the “detail” or “concise” format. The “detail” format is the standard blog layout. The “concise” format displays only the title and the first 20 words from each post so that your readers may view your posts at a glance.
