I added a Custom Header how do I remove Default Header?
-
Hi I’ve added a graphic jpeg file to be my custom header (Myles Formby Weddings Blog), but how do I get rid of the default header that’s there already? I also want to get rid of About and the line ‘updates from myles formby weddings’.
Help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

“No one ever”? When you haven’t posted any other question? And 10 minutes after posting this one? This is a forum, you know, not a phone answering service.
Anyway, apparently you’ve figured out the two of the three issues yourself. As for the “About”: At the moment there’s a short text on that page. You mean you don’t want this text at all, or that you’ll find another way of linking to it and just don’t want the About tab in the header area?

Haha I know I’m impatient.
I don’t want the about tab in the header area. Can it go at the bottom or at the side? And if I don’t want it at all do I delete the text?
Thanks justpi! -
If you don’t want it at all, you go to Pages > All Pages, hover over the page title, click Trash.
If you do want the page but want the link to it in the footer instead of the header, then:
a) Go to Appearance > Widgets and drag the Pages widget from Available to Footer Area.
b) Go to Appearance > Menus, click the plus sign to add a menu, give it a name, don’t add anything to it, click Save Menu, select that menu from the Theme Locations pulldown, click Save. -
Thank you. I’m a bit confused by the last bit though. Appearance>Menus You said add a menu and give it a name? Do you mean call it About, is that what that menu is going to become?

1. No, any name. It’ll just be the name that defines that menu in your dashboard.
2. On the same dashboard screen. If it weren’t there, I would have written where to go next to find it. If you’re not seeing the Theme Locations module while in Appearance > Menus, click Screen Options (top right) to activate it.To understand what this is about:
The regular header menu of a theme displays links to all your published pages. When you create a custom menu and select it from the Theme Locations pulldown, that custom menu replaces the regular header menu. So the way to eliminate the page links from your header is to select a custom menu to which you’ve added nothing.
