  I already have a domain name that I paid for on godaddy. how does that work when creating a site with wordpress?

  Hi there,

  That depends on whether you want to use the domain on WordPress.com or with the self-hosted WordPress software.

  For WordPress.com you’ll need to sign up for a site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/

  Then upgrade the site to one of our paid plans and add the domain mapping upgrade to connect your domain:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  If you want to use the open source software you’ll need to get a hosting plan with a hosting provider like GoDaddy. We’re not able to help you with that version of WordPress, but you can find the complete documentation here:
