  I want to make sure that the current website will not be affected and to have full permission to install the theme and plugin till I decide to upload the new version

  It looks like http://www.lavasolutions.com is a self-hosted WordPress site, which is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  Ideally, you would need to speak to your hosting provider about getting a staging site set up, so that you can build your site behind the scenes away from the live site.
