  I am trying to build a website in WordPress but I am stuck as you are asking me to pay for a domain. Thank you in advance for your answer.

  You can map your existing domain name to your blog here by following the instructions contained in:
  http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

  Note that you need at a minimum the personal plan to map domains to WordPress.com content:
  https://wordpress.com/pricing/
