I am being constantly contacted about a domain that I have canceled.

Hello. I set this account up for my father to promote a small business, but he had trouble setting it up so we decided to cancel until I have time to teach him how to set up and maintain a website. However, after I have canceled my services (at least I think I have) with wordpress, I am still constantly being e-mail and called by solicitors questioning me about the domain or if I need a web designer to help me with the domain/ etc. I have never experienced this with any other site such as Wix, Squarespace, Weebly, etc. Why is this happening and how can I get it to stop??? To my knowledge, I have fully canceled this account with WordPress, but why is my phone number and my contact information being released to strangers? Please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you.

That’s very strange. What is the exact domain URL please?

The domain name was mrdjrva.com. I purchased it through wordpress when signing up with my information, and canceled it maybe a day after. This was on December 10th, and although I have tried to delete my contact information out of my current account, I am still being contacted by solicitors about the domain.

Hi @blankaccount123, the domain is no longer with us, but it looks like you cancelled domain privacy at some point. The domain would then show your contact information in WHOIS searches and databases.
Sometimes businesses will cancel private registration if they want their name, number, and physical address exposed (often as a means of appearing more legitimate). Were you going for that?
Other folks cancel Privacy to save a little money, since (at least with our privacy provider) it adds $8 to the price of a domain.
The trouble here is that once you’ve exposed your domain contact information to the web, some businesses keep a close eye on domains that are about to expire, then send emails, phone calls, or even physical letters to the domain owner to “help” them renew their domain.
You can generally avoid this by
– using privacy
– or not letting a domain get close to expiration.

I get those and others for one of my domains – I usually just delete the email other times I will forward it on to my ISP for his amusement. The phone number listed is my home phone and if I don’t recognize the caller it goes to voice mail
