BUT I see now there’s as personal plan for $2.95 a month….what is the difference in the two plans other than no ads.

None. You have to read the market speak carefully. There are no monthly payment plans.

According to what my current plan is there may or may not be ads, and I have had friends ask about ads that they see on my blog?

I have something called “custom design”….$30 per year. So once again what is the difference in that and the personal plan? Please, not trying to be difficult.

I DO UNDERSTAND THOSE PLANS. MY current plan is called CUSTOM DESIGN and I am being charged $30 per year. I do not see that plan or cost reflected in the two links you offered…

You have an old plan that no longer existed except by renewal, provide it is not allowed to expire. I has been has been replaced and is only available to those who do not allow it to expire. It is not available for new users. Be patient and Staff will explain this to you when they can.
Advice: never ever SHOUT! at those whose are trying to help by typing in all capital letters. It makes text hard to read and it is the rude online equivalent of SHOUTING! into another persons face offline.

The custom design upgrade is a legacy upgrade that you can renew but no longer purchase new. It is not a “plan” it is just an upgrade.
The features of the custom design upgrade are equivalent to the Advanced Custom Design feature that you’ll see listed under WordPress.com Premium and Business plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Your custom design upgrade does not include the extra 3GB storage that is included with WordPress.com Personal Plan.

Just trying decide what plan would be best for me at the most affordable price. Sorry if I came off sounding “loud”….

The custom design upgrade gives you access to some design features. That’s all. It does not have any affect on ads.
Under Premium and Business Plans you’ll see Advanced Design Customization. My wording was not correct in the previous post.
An upgrade to Personal would get you 3GB additional storage plus a custom domain. You can add this to your account in addition to the custom design upgrade that you already have.
