I am getting an odd message when I check to see if my pages are caching google
-
I changed my theme approx 10 days ago. I noticed a decrease in traffic and decided to check if my pages were being cached. On several I am getting the following message from google. 404. That’s an error.
The requested URL /search?q=cache:nVca1RgOZ1AJ:essexcountynjcriminalattorneys.wordpress.com/2013/03/18/robbery-charge-dismissed/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a was not found on this server. That’s all we know.
Here are the links
http://essexcountynjcriminalattorneys.wordpress.com/2013/03/18/robbery-charge-dismissed/There are others as well, some are older posts and blogs from the old theme.
Also, I noticed that I am getting search results for my tags. This never happened before. This was a premium elementim theme

Hi there,
I just ran a few google searches using words from the title of your site (essex county criminal) and a word or two from posts, and they all resolved correctly. Some of Google’s cached pages were from your previous theme, however this is not surprising as it can take several weeks for Google to re-cache sites after major changes.
If you are getting 404 errors (which is a “page not found” error), is it possible that you’ve removed pages or posts during this transition? A change in theme should not have had a significant change in the structure of your site.

Did you run a cache inquiry on the two links I provided? Those pages were on the old theme and had been successfully cached. Now I’m getting that weird message. Can changing your theme cause this.
404. That’s an error.

Hi there,
Google flushes their cache regularly and the major change of a site is one of the reasons which is pointed at for why they might do so. In general however, WordPress.com has no control on how your site appears in the Google index and in which position.
Please be patient, in the meantime, Google Webmaster Tools has some more info that you can take a look at:

I understand that you can’t give a definite, but in your opinion, do you think that the pages will cache in time?
-
It should indeed eventually be picked up and re-cached. It’s always in google’s own best interest to cache as much as they can, so they don’t tend to like to leave things un-picked up! :)

I have another issue now, I just checked my site and the sidebar is on the bottom of the page. I removed the post i put up last night, but it is still like that.
-
I also removed the div tag from the now most recent post and it is still like that. Do I have to put the div tag back in? It was not like this last night after I posted

Hi there!
I took a look at your site and I actually can see your sidebar just fine! What may be the issue is that your blog is width-responsive. This means that it will detect how wide the viewer’s screen is and adjust it’s output appropriately.
This is what it looks like when my screen is set to “wide enough”:
And then this is what it looks like when it starts to get too narrow:
The theme starts re-arranging where it puts the sidebar, etc. Were you possibly on a narrower browser or mobile device?
