  I am having password issues….I recently installed jet pack but when I activated it WordPress didn’t recognize my password so I reset and now I’m locked out of my blog….I need one place where I can set ONE password that will work across all the systems…..and why doesn’t WordPress have an official support link? No offense but I hate random answers from folks who may or may jot be qualified to fix the problem and certainly don’t have backdoor access to the system…..

  There are two independent WordPress entities. There is WordPress.com and WordPress.org. WordPress.org is the blanket term for all self-hosted WordPress sites and WordPress.com is a service that hosts your site for you for free. A login at WordPress.com is not connected to the login at the WordPress.org site (primarily for the support forums). It is also not connected to the login to your self-hosted site’s dashboard. These are three independent logins.

  If you are installing Jetpack, that means that you are on a WordPress.org self-hosted site (though you must have a WordPress.com login to utilize the Jetpack plugin). This forum is for WordPress.com hosted sites. The correct forum for WordPress.org self-hosted sites is http://wordpress.org/support. You will need to go there and create a separate account for the support forums there.

  Especially now that I have to have FOUR separate accounts/logins/passwords etc etc…

  You can have the same email address and password to login all around. I don’t recommend it for security reasons, but I am sure it is done. Also, the WordPress.com password is, set and forget.

  Then you also have the option of hosting and maintaining your site completely on WordPress.com. That would also simplify the password management. I have personally found it worthwhile to manage these logins.
