I wanted to cancel my hosting through WordPress, because I have not been using it and I need to conserve money. However, I do not want to cancel my domain. I think I just went through the cancellation procedure, but I’m not sure what exactly was being ‘cancelled.’
I am now having second thoughts about canceling anything. I’m confused about the differences between wordpress.com, wordpress premium, and wordpress.org. I just want to start my blog, and now I am feeling discouraged and confused about how costly it is, especially when comparing wordpress premium’s hosting costs with that of other providers.
Please get in touch with me and help me make sense of exactly what is being offered with wordpress premium, whether or not I even need wordpress premium for my purposes (i need to pinch pennies and $100 is a lot), and also where my account is in the cancelation process and if I cancelled things I actually want to keep.
Please Advise.
Thanks.

Hi there,
It looks like you did successfully cancel the Premium plan, but left the domain on your account. I’ve issued a refund for your payment of the Premium plan, minus the cost of the domain.
It can take about a week for refunds to appear on a bank statement, but you can find a refund receipt in your billing history here:

I’m confused about the differences between wordpress.com, wordpress premium, and wordpress.org. I just want to start my blog, and now I am feeling discouraged and confused about how costly it is, especially when comparing wordpress premium’s hosting costs with that of other providers.
The differences between a free site on WordPress.com and using the Premium plan are in this chart:

The difference between a WordPress.com site and a self-hosted site using the WordPress.org software is explained here:
If this is your first blog using WordPress, I’d recommend staying with the free WordPress.com site until you find there’s something you want that we can’t provide. Like perhaps there’s a certain plugin or theme you really prefer, but those functions or themes aren’t available here.
Everything you do on a free site at WordPress.com can be transferred to a self-hosted site later.
Purchasing hosting service and installing WordPress for a self-hosted site are just intimidating for a lot of folks that really just want to start blogging. But if you’re familiar with setting websites already, there’s more customization available to you. Some folks say it’s like renting a house vs. owning a house.
Do you have any specific features you know you’ll want on your site? I can help you set those up on WordPress.com to get you started.
