I am locked out of my account because 2FA authentication app stopped working

I am locked out of my account because 2FA authentication app stopped working. I have lost my phone and when I reinstalled the 2FA app, it requests backup passwords which I do not remember generating. Am I permanently locked out of my 2 WordPress blogs?

If you lose your device or security key, accidentally remove the authenticator app, or are otherwise locked out of your account, the only way to get back in to your account is by using a Backup Code, https://wordpress.com/support/security/two-step-authentication/#if-you-lose-your-device

I read that too. So is there a way to disable the 2FA temporarily, with other verifications, of course? I do not have backup code. I have set up 2FA on advice of a friend, but little did I know that once I lose a mobile device from which I authenticate access, 2 years of my work on the blog is lost…

I tagged this with modlook to get attention from Staff. Perhaps they have another solution.

Hi there,
Can you please confirm the URL of the site and the username of the account you’re trying to access?

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with GoDaddy.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.
