No. WordPress deny even recognising my site when I contact them directly… I’ve been blogging 7 years and have almost reached my 3,000th post!

Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies as @staartmees suggested above:
The fact that you’re able to reach the editor means you are definitely not locked out of the blog. If you were locked out, or logged into the wrong account, you wouldn’t see the site listed under My Sites, and wouldn’t be able to get into the editor.
That failure message when you try to update or publish a post in the editor points to your browser being unable to send data to our servers, and is usually fixed by just clearing the browser cache, and sometimes cookies as well.

I don’t think that’s the issue. The messages are highlighted in pink. Yesterday’s blog views ditto. And there is a message highlighted in pink directing me to my Cart where a bill for $300 awaits. I don’t sell anything. WordPress advertise freely. I’m not making money for this. Why am I being billed for a 7 year old site about movies I watch?! It’s a hobby, nothing more. And I’m being coerced into using Block Editing which I have resisted because it dumps all the Categories (hundreds at this point) that have grown with the site where I have posted 2,981 blogs.

Good morning! I see that you’ve been in touch a few more times this morning about a $300 charge on the account.
I wanted to post here to let you know that there are no such charges on the account that you’ve used here to contact us. My hunch would be that this upgrade is associated with a different user account. As mentioned in another thread, you’ll need to get in touch with our billing team and they are the ones to help you sort that out. We are not equipped to do that through these public forums. Go to https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/
If the business plan is added to your cart, but has not been purchased yet, you can simply use the
xin the cart to remove that. -
Now I can’t find it. The pink messages are gone and so is the direction to go to the cart.
Why is WordPress coercing me into using Block Editor which erases my Categories built up over 7 years? -
When I went to https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/
and tried ‘Contact Us’ I wound up back here.
Those messages to me were highlighted in pink and directed me to the cart where a charge was highlighted in pink.
I was not allowed to edit my post.

I was not allowed to edit using the classic form in drafts which is the only way that is useful to me.
Why am I being coerced to Upgrade? I don’t sell anything.
I want to blog without this level of intimidation please.

I want to blog without this level of intimidation please.To clarify, you are not being coerced in any way. It seems that there is an upgrade in your shopping cart (perhaps it was added by mistake) but you are not required to have it.
I have removed the Business plan from your cart, so you will not see that message anymore.

I noticed that you have two sites on your account with very similar names, and I think this is causing some confusion.
1. https://mondomovies.wordpress.com/This is your site of 7 years, and has all your contents still. I count 2982 posts on this site, and many many categories you have built up over time.
2. https://mondomovies2.wordpress.com/This is a new site you created 11 hours ago (possibly without realizing?) and it has no posts or categories since it is a brand new site. If you created this site in error, you can delete it here: https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/mondomovies2.wordpress.com
It sounds like you are mixing the two sites us because their names are so similar, so I recommend deleting the new site you created (mondomovies2.wordpress.com) so it does not cause any confusion, and you can instead focus on your long-running site at mondomovies.wordpress.com

There is no confusion on my part. I did not order anything that cost $300. I have been stopped from using the Classic Editor which is all I want to use. I – obviously – created the new site in desperation but it seems that is coercing me into using Block Editor too. What do I have to do to get back to using Classic Editor – a simple format for my ideas? It seems I am not able to access my Categories in Block Editor and it is an obtuse mechanism.

The Categories option does not appear in the Menu except as an up or down arrow which does nothing.
And I have up to 100 Categories per post. That’s kind of the point of my posts. -

Ah ok, we’re aware of that issue and working on a fix.
For now, most people have been able to resolve it by either clearing their browser’s cache https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache or logging out and back in again.
