I am so exasperated with Word Press. Why am I FORCED to have a blog? I just like to reply to other Word Press bloggers.

I am so exasperated with Word Press. I just want to contribute intelligent comments to other Word Press bloggers. Why MUST I have my own blog?

You mustn’t have a blog, you can have a blog.

I am calling BS. I can’t log in without being asked what my WordPress blog is. Google Blogspot is soooooo much easier.

All I want to do is contribute to WordPress blogs and the system is so redundant and constantly asking for a password then taking me to my blog instead of the site I was on that I was going to make a comment.

Surely as long as you make sure you’re logged out of this WordPress.com account you can leave comments on blogs on this platform without needing a WordPress.com account to do so. This is not a closed environment like Facebook.
You may need to clear cache, use incognito or a different browser if your equipment has bookmarked this account.

You don’t need a wordpress.com account to comment on other blogs. So you can close this account, https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/

This seems like a trick. Like in the movies when they tell someone it’s the door at the end of the hallway and they walk through and fall 10 stories to the ground. I have always been prompted to log in and then I am taken to my blog when I was trying to log in so I could leave a comment. Crimeny. It feels like there is a double reality out there involving word press.

Wether you need a wordpress.com account or not to comment on a site, depends on the setting the owner of a site did choose for, https://wordpress.com/support/comments/#who-can-comment

  • Hi there,

There is no requirement to have a site in order to have a WordPress.com account. But if you have a site, logging in will automatically take you to the dashboard of that site, or the dashboard of your primary site if you have more than one.

the system is so redundant and constantly asking for a password

If you’re constantly being asked for your password even though you didn’t log out, then it means your browser is blocking us from detecting that you’re already logged in. Make sure your browser allows cookies, that you’re not using a browser add-ons blocking those, and if you’re using Safari, disable the “Prevent cross-site tracking” feature under Preferences ->Privacy.

As long as we’re able to track whether you’re logged in or not, you should simply be logged in automatically when visiting any site hosted on WordPress.com, and be able to comment without having to do anything else.
