I am struggling adding a photo of mine from my computer to my Image widget

  I have tried unsuccessfully for a week now. Can you walk me through the steps? Thanks! My teens think I am too technically inept to have a blog of my artwork and writing and I think Word Press can help me prove them wrong!

  a) Media > Add New: you upload the image (by dragging it from your desktop or by clicking Select Files etc); once it’s uploaded, you click Edit and copy the File URL.
  b) Appearance > Widgets: you drag an Image widget to Sidebar, paste the URL in the Image URL field, save.
