I am taking a class in WP and in addition to have wp.org it wants me to have wp.com. I have an account with wp.com but can’t get it to coincide with the site I am designing with my class. I’m takng

  I am taking a class in WP and in addition to having wp.org it wants me to have wp.com. I have an account with wp.com but can’t get it to coincide with the site I am designing with my class. I am taking the class through ed2go.com – the class is using siteground as its hosting. Please advise what I should do. I’m stuck.
