I am trying to change my user name, but my name is already in use.

I am trying to change the user name for my account to my name. When I try, I am told my name is already in use. I believe I may have used my name as user name in a former iteration of my account, and associated it with an email address that is now closed. When I try to reset the password by entering the username, I do not receive an email on any of my active email accounts. I have a unique name and don’t believe anyone else is using it. How can I “get my name back”?….

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

If a username was previously registered at WordPress.com, there’s no way to change your current username to that one. If you used to have that username on this account, but you changed your username to your current one, you can’t change back to the old one again.

If you think you had a completely separate WordPress.com account with that username, but you can’t log in to the account or reset the password, you can get help here:

    https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

Click the “Need More Help?” link next to the button, and fill out the form. Our account recovery team will get back to you by email so you can discuss the options in private.
