I am trying to convert a current website to WordPress as a CMS

This question is not about the blog above.

I have a website (www.homefrontheroines.com), which is currently using Omeka as a CMS and is fully hosted by Dreamhost. I would like to change the look of my site. I would like to use a premium theme in WordPress as a CMS for it.

    1. When I did the instant install in Dreamhost, I find I cannot create an administrative log-in to work on the site. They’re suggesting that I create the site in WordPress and then point the WordPress domain to Dreamhost. Will this work without using site mirroring? (I am currently using mirroring on http://www.hingesofhistory.com to cross promote the blog in multiple platforms).
    2. If I build the site in using a premium theme, will this transfer to Dreamhost without mirroring? Premium templates are not available in the Dreamhost install folder.

    Thank you.

  • Hi, to clear up any confusion the installation of WordPress.org you have on Dreamhost is actually separate from WordPress.com.

The premium themes available on WordPress.com are only available for WordPress.com sites and they wouldn’t transfer to your WordPress.org installation.
