I think I was able to customize the wordpress servers to the above. I’ll let you know if it takes soon.

Hi there,
Changing your domain’s nameservers will make it so your domain dailymacview.com no longer points to your WordPress.com site. If you’d like to set up email service but still use your domain with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to make sure your domain is using the WordPress.com nameservers, and then add the custom DNS records for your email as described here:
Add Email through other providersYou may need to contact Office 365 to request the DNS records you need to enter here for your mail hosting. Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

Hi
Thanks. Microsoft is next to hopeless. I can’t tell you just how bad they are. The did not or do not know how to enter their naming in that file. I accidentally changed my name as they (Microsoft seemed to want) and then my server couldn’t be found. I changed the option as there seemed to be a problem getting the wordpress naming back in. it’s still not there but people can find my site dailymacview.com.
I’ll have to try to work with Microsoft with the info you gave me. I did last night and the guy said that you needed to do this and that he didn’t understand WordPress. I was on the phone with them for 5 hours. Office 365 is an interesting product from Microsoft but no one knows how to handled the thing. It’s absolutely dreadful to say the least.
I will try t get through the course of today to get this resolved. I’m just a touch angry about the whole thing.

Hi there,
I’m sorry this has been a frustrating process for you! I checked and your domain is using the WordPress.com nameservers again, so you’re ok there.
I’m very happy to enter your DNS records on this end, if you can get the correct values from Microsoft. Let them know that you can’t change your nameservers to theirs. You can ask them specifically for the MX records (and any associated A or CNAME records) that you need to use their email hosting service.
Don’t worry about what format they give you those records in — once you have them, let me know and I can get them in the right format to enter on this end.

Let me ask. Their system is sitting there waiting for the following information. Is this the correct information to be input or I can call them right now. I tried to tell that Office 365 specialist this is what you are looking for after 5 hours on the phone with these ….. and this is what I ended up. My going to you and asking you to input the following:
ns1.bdm.microsoftonline.com
ns1.bdm.microsoftonline.comThe fellow kept telling me this is what needs to input and then once done everything will work perfectly. I see nothing in the example that resembles this whatsoever.
HELP!!! It would be so appreciated. I think if I know what to tell them you exactly need maybe just maybe they might be able to give it to me. But the system is just sitting there waiting for this info.
Thanks ever so much
Kerry

Hi Kerry,
The two values they gave you are their nameservers. That won’t work, because you need to use the WordPress.com nameservers to keep your domain pointed to your site here.
I checked, and the MX records you need from Microsoft should look something like this:
CNAME autodiscover autodiscover.outlook.com.
MX 0 XXXXXXXX-com.mail.eo.outlook.com.
TXT <MS=ms#######>
TXT v=spf1 include:outlook.com ~all
CNAME lyncdiscover webdir.online.lync.com.
CNAME sip sipdir.online.lync.com.
SRV _sip._tls 100 1 443 sipdir.online.lync.com.
SRV _sipfederationtls._tcp 100 1 5061 sipfed.online.lync.com.The two values you’ll need to get from them are where the X’s and #’s appear above. You can ask them for the MX and TXT records, specifically.
I also found this help page with instructions for where you can find these DNS records yourself. You might want to give that a try if their support team can’t find the information: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-suite-help/gather-the-information-you-need-to-create-office-365-dns-records-HA104028359.aspx?CTT=5&origin=HA103106254

Thanks so much for your prompt help. I really appreciate that. I specifically requested of Microsoft that the domain is hosted by your guys and all they would be doing is the email. Why am I not surprised they gave me the wrong information and they don’t know what they’re doing.
I’ll look at your reference information first and maybe I can do it. At least when I talk to Microsoft I’ll be more informed. However, I’m paying very good money to people that have one product left that is even slightly interesting and they haven’t got a clue what they’re doing,
I hope no one else ever has to go through all of this.
Once again thanks so much.

Hi. Once again thanks for the info. Microsoft has vindicated themselves. The tech from last night called me back just as I was looking at the info from the help document. He told me exactly what to fill in and everything is working perfectly now. I can be reached directly at (email visible only to moderators and staff) or (email visible only to moderators and staff).
This is excellent and is so much more professional.
Once again thanks.

That’s excellent news! I’m so glad everything is working now. :) Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
