I am trying to make email forwarding happen

    Hi,

I’m trying to make email forwarding work. My domain is registered with 123-reg.co.uk, who sent me this message:

The email forwarders you have associated to your domain fergusmarch.co.uk won’t work if the MX records of the domain (the email servers that are responsible for a particular domain) are not pointed to 123-reg.

At this point, the MX records are pointed to MX.MHOSTMAIL.COM. Since we are not the ones in control of the DNS for this domain as the nameservers are also not pointed to us but to ns1, ns2 and ns3.wordpress.com, please contact the owners of these nameservers and ask them to add the following MX records:

    host:@, type: MX, priority=10, destination: mx0.123-reg.co.uk
    and
    host:@, type: MX, priority=20, destination: mx1.123-reg.co.uk

I understand I should be able to input this code, but the ‘edit’ button next to my primary domain on the ‘my domains’ page is not working. Any help/suggestions – which can be understood by a webdunce such a myself?

    Hi there,

Sorry for the trouble! If you’re having trouble with the “Edit” button next to your domain, please try reloading the My Domains page — that should fix it up for you.

However, I went ahead and added the two MX records you mentioned to your domain. (The message from 123-reg.co.uk didn’t mention removing the existing record for MX.MHOSTMAIL.COM so I left that one there in case you’re still using it.) Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

That’s great! Thank you so much – the forwarding seems to be working just fine now.

THanks so much for your help!
