I am trying to transfer my registrar to GoDaddy but need my EPP code
-
I am trying to transfer my registrar to GoDaddy but need my EPP code. My site turtleboysports.com was on auto renewal, but my credit card expired. As a result the domain expired and is currently in redemption status. I paid GoDaddy today to transfer the domain to them, but I cannot access it without the EPP code. This is the only thing I need. I desperately need this domain back. My livelihood and business depends on it. All I need to do is speak to someone at WordPress but I can’t figure out how. Can anyone from WordPress please help me? Thank you very much.

Hi there,
It is not possible to transfer a domain that is in redemption. We will first need to recover the domain from our registrar and renew it before you’ll be able to transfer the domain. Our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption, so I’ll need you to agree to that fee before I can start the recovery process.
-
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I will pay whatever price is necessary to recover the domain from the registrar and renew it. Please let me know what you need from me (credit card information, etc) and you will get it.
-
Thanks for confirming. I’ve sent you a payment link via email. Once we receive payment I can email our registrar to restore the domain. Should the recovery fail, your payment will be refunded in full.
Also note that I’ve not included the cost of renewing private registration in the payment link. Private registration needs to be disabled to transfer the domain, so there’s no point in adding it here to start with. Instead, you can add it on GoDaddy’s end once you’ve transferred the domain.
-
Can you please send it to (email visible only to moderators and staff)? Part of the reason that I was not aware that the domain didn’t renew is because I no longer have access to the email on file that I assume you just sent it to ( (email visible only to moderators and staff) ). I got a new phone and couldn’t get the password right and now I’m permanently locked out of it.

The bottom line is I am willing to the $80 to transfer my domain from redemption so that I can renew it. I just need someone to send me the link so I can get this process started. I know up above I stated this was for turtleboysports.wordpress.com. I mean to write turtleboysports.com. That is the domain I am looking to renew.

the email is [redacted by mod*] (sorry it comes up as “email redacted” when i write the email address in)
[*Edited by mod to remove email address and to note that the forum software is programmed to hide email addresses but Staff will still be able to see it.]

If the email address on your account is no longer valid, please go to this page and update it:
https://wordpress.com/me/account/
The regulations regarding domain ownership are very strict, so we can only use the email address indicated on your account settings.
Let me know once you’ve updated that and confirmed the new email, and I can resend the payment link.

OK I just switched the email in that link. Can you please send it now? Also I received an email this morning from a woman named Donna Bowser. I do not know if she works for WordPress. Here is what she said:
Hey there!
turtleboysports.com is being released back to the market, and since you have turtleboysports.co we thought you might find this interesting. If you want, one of our sales agents can get back to you with the details, just let us know.
In any case, I wish you a nice day! -

I’ve resent the link. Please let me know if you don’t receive it.
Also I received an email this morning from a woman named Donna Bowser. I do not know if she works for WordPress.
That email is not from us. Any email from us will come from a @wordpress.com address, and for our registrar from an @secureserver.net address only.
There are people who make their living from expired domains. Either they buy domains that have just expired and then try to sell them back to the original owners at a profit – called domain squatting – or they do what you see here: contact you as your domain is expiring and try to sell you a different domain, most likely also at much more than it is worth.
You can ignore that email. The only way to get your domain back is via the process we are currently following here in this thread.
-
Also, please don’t reply to the thread a second time after you reply. Each new reply moves the thread to the bottom of my queue, meaning I’ll only take longer to get to it.
-
OK thank you. I received the email and just paid to have it renewed. What is the next step?
-
I’ve just emailed our registrar to restore the domain. Now we need to wait for them to reply. As soon as I hear from them, I’ll let you know.
-
OK. My web developer tells me I need access to domain information in WordPress so that we can get the authorization code to transfer domain name. Do you have any idea from your experience how long this generally takes? Thank you.
-
It is a manual process on our registrar’s end, so it depends on the state of their support queue, but usually it doesn’t take more than a day. As soon as it’s restored I’ll let you know and give you instructions how to get the transfer code.
-
Right. Your domain has been restored and is in your account again.
You should now be able to transfer it by going to this page:
https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/turtleboysports.com/transfer/out/turtleboysports.com
It looks like your domain had already been unlocked before you cancelled it, but you can request a new transfer code from that page.
-
Alright thanks. My web developer tells me he requested that they resend the transfer code. When do you think I should be receiving it?
