I am unable to add Twitter and Facebook buttons

    I want to add Twitter and Facebook buttons to my sidebar. I don’t want the Twitter timeline or to share content between my website and social media sites – I simply want an icon that people can click and get taken to my Twitter/Facebook sites. I have sought out several different solutions from various sources and none of them work. I know how to create a link etc, but this seems impossible within a text widget. If I use html code, it appears in code form in the sidebar. Unlike the ‘edit’ section for pages and posts, there is no option to switch from normal text to html text – so I don’t know what to do!

    Have you tried the instructions at http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-social-media-buttons-to-your-sidebar-or-footer/ ?

    Alternatively, can you add the code you tried to your sidebar and let me know? I can take a look at what you already did to see if there’s something simple we can fix. :-)
