I am unable to connect to my page using FileZilla to FTP files onto peterensminger.wordpress.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

“We do not allow FTP (File Transfer Protocol) access to any WordPress.com blogs for security reasons. You can still get things done without FTP…” – see more at

The site you have linked has little content, so perhaps you are referring to another site. If so please provide the URL for the site you need help with.

I understand that you do not support FTP.

Moreover, it appears that I am not allowed to upload html, css, and js files from my PC onto my WordPress site (https://peterensminger.wordpress.com/). Is this correct?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, that is correct. However some of the different level plans do offer access to changing some code and the business plan offers the most flexibility. From your questions it seems the only plan at WordPress.com that will do most of what you want would be the business plan

See this article that details some of the alternatives to ftp that are offered:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/

JavaScript: may be used with sites on our Business plan with plugins installed.
For security reasons, sites on the Premium Plan and below are not allowed to post JavaScript.

CSS: The WordPress.com Premium and Business plans include a CSS editor, which lets you customize the appearance of your site’s theme using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) code.
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/

Custom CSS allows you to add or replace CSS for themes only; it does not give you access to change HTML markup or PHP code. You can turn any WordPress.com theme into a blank canvas by turning off the theme’s CSS in your custom CSS settings.

On the business plan you can upload themes beyond those offered in the WordPress.com theme offerings.

I’m noting your post for a modlook for a more expert description of your options here at WordPress.com.

    Hi houstonweaver,

Thanks for your reply and for your patience. I now believe that wordpress.com is not currently the best option for my needs. However, I will keep wordpress.com in mind if my needs change in the future.
