I am unable to retrieve admin password with Nucaptcha

    Hi guys

    I recently changed computers and lost my password document. I cannot rememberwhat my passwords for my sites are.

    I have tried to request change of password through sending me an e-mail, but for some reasons the WordPress Nucaptcha just doesn’t acknowledge I have entered the right three letters.

    So I am now trying to change according to the instructions here:

    You have to do this through the WordPress database directly. The most convenient way to manage the database is via the phpMyAdmin tool at your web hosting account.

    Once in phpMyAdmin select the WordPress database from the drop-down menu on the left. The page will refresh and the database’s tables will be displayed on it. Open the SQL tab (look at the top navigation bar).

    In the text field write the following SQL query:

    UPDATE wp_users SET user_pass = MD5( ‘new_password_here’ ) WHERE wp_users.user_login = “admin_username”;

    “new_password_here” – replace this with the new password you wish to use.
    “admin_username” – replace this with the username the password should be updated for.

    Once you are ready, click on the GO button to submit the query. If everything goes fine without errors, you should be able to login to WordPress with the new password.

    I tried to click on phpmyadmin. However it still asks for a password and username. What password and username is it? Is it still the wordpress one? Considering that that’s the one I lost and am unable to reaccess, I don’t think it helps with my problem.

    One of my sites is a personal one so less urgent. Another is for my patients and I really need to access it.

    Hi. If you are using phpAdmin, it means you have a self-hosted WordPress blog and are in the wrong forum. Please ask your question at http://wordpress.org/support
