I am unable to ‘Update File’ on my Stylesheet (style.css) – Receiving message error

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello. Yesterday I changed the font size of my page’s site title by amending my stylesheet CSS code to reflect a 50px instead of a 65px. Today however I attempted to change it back to 65px however have been unable to update the file, receiving the message ‘something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance you may need to manually fix and upload the file over FTP’.

Is anyone able to advise what might be causing this?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you :)

  • Hi there,

CSS can only be added to sites on WordPress.com on the Premium Plan, and there’s no way at all to make changes directly to style.css for any WordPress.com site or theme. https://amandawestaway.wordpress.com/ also contains nothing but demo content, so I’m going to assume that’s not the site you need help with.

If you’re working on a site that uses the open source WordPress software at another host, we cannot help you here – this forum is only for sites hosted on WordPress.com’s servers.

Please contact support for the specific theme you’re using directly for help with this.
