I bought a domain, but it aint showing in URL

    I recently bought esbenbertram.com through wordpress.
    when i search for it, it works – but the url at the top says pilehaveorg.wordpress.com, and not esbenbertram.com
    Why is that?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    In my opinion, you have not set the newly bought address as the primary address of your site.

    It looks like you have canceled your paid plan, but it is needed to use the custom domain as your primary address.

    Since the custom domain would be included in any paid annual plan, you can purchase any of them and let us know here – we’ll refund the price of the domain.

    Hello, it isn’t cancelled it says EsbenBertram.com (Active)

    We will attempt to renew on 1 October 2023 for kr.144

    searching for EsbenBertram.com works, but it says another adress in the URL after.

    This is a domain setting that you need to change. Here are the instructions: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address

    Once you do that, EsbenBertram.com, will show in the address bar instead of your free site address.

    Hey, when i get to part 2 it does not say ‘make primary site adress’ – it just says view settings.

    However i did already pay an amount and received an email saying:

    ‘Your site just got even better.
    You are now the proud owner of esbenbertram­.com! Time to update your business cards.’

    So why doesn’t it work?

    I get that the guide should work, but I can’t get passed step 2.

    Oh. I see the problem. While you can purchase a domain without a plan, to have your domain be your primary domain, you need a paid plan. Otherwise, your domain will redirect to your free *.wordpress.com URL.
