I bought a wordpress hosting plan from GoDaddy
-
I am currently learning how to use wordpress and I bought a basic plan from GoDaddy as their support suggested. I had no knowledge about SSL certificate and as Security is a basic requirement, didn’t expect the website to be non-secure.
Now I need to secure my website and SSL certificate is again so expensive.
I checked on Hostgator and they give free SSL certificate with every plan even with basic plan.
Also, web host gives hosting for free.
In that case what is the benefit of buying a hosting from WordPress which is not even secure.
Really disappointed with WordPress Hosting. -
Hi there,
GoDaddy, HostGator, or any other similar hosting company provide hosting for site owners using the self-hosted version of WordPress from WordPress.org or another open-source platform.
WordPress.com is the hosted variant of WordPress. Powered by Automattic, this full-service solution appeals to users who want to quickly create and publish a site without dealing with site maintenance or other technical issues.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. Learn more here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
You don’t need to install an SSL certificate on your WordPress.com site as it already comes installed on all WordPress.com sites from Let’s Encrypt.
Let me know if you have any more questions, comments, or concerns. 🙂
