I bought hipme.com instead of hipme.wordpress.com. It said it was available and successfully updated

  Can u help? I’m very worried about readers trying to click today and it going to that other website. I’m going to lose readers & look very unprofessional.

  I’m very upset because I checked my links that I put for others on FB that we’re working before I “successfully” updated the domain name to eliminate the “wordpress” in domain name. It said it would route readers seamlessly from hipme.wordpress.com to hipme.com.

  Now they just see a link not found or this random iPhone site.

  AUGH! This is NOT how I wanted to roll out this new blog! No one is going to check it anymore bc it’s proven itself to be crappy and unreliable.

  It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=hipme.com

  Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:

  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  How do I know who my registrar is? I thought it was wordpress since I did everything thru u. Then isn’t it self contained? Why did it say the update was successful and would be converted?

  I tried entering hipme.com and hipme.wordpress.com into map an existing domain and on both of them it told me I cannot.

  Why am I not given access to meet the name server updates I need to make? If wordpress is my registrar, they should enable me to make reasonable changes. I reached out for help and only got a screen I’ve already read about mapping a domain from a different registrar when I was clear that wordpress is my registrar.

  I am so frustrated! I’ve been working on this all day.

  You have not registered hipme.com with WordPress.com. You have set up Domain Mapping for hipme.com. Domain mapping is what you would use if you already had a domain registered elsewhere and wanted to use it with your WordPress.com site. The registrar for hipme.com appears to be enom.com:

  http://who.is/whois/hipme.com

  If you were not the one who registered hipme.com at enom.com, then you will not be able to set it up to work with your WordPress.com site. I would be happy to refund the purchase of the Domain Mapping upgrade

  Wow that was confusing. Yes, please refund the purchase.
  I did successfully somehow link the hip me.com so now I can no longer access my hipme.wordpress.com (it takes me to that other site). Can you please help me with this so people can access my blog?

  Sadly lots of people are still telling me they can’t get my blog bc of an error file not found. Should I just move it over to blogger? I’m concerned about the length of time it took to solve this problem. Is there a way to make the http://www.hipme.wordpress.com work again? And quickly?

  For some reason, my link has been re routed to hipme.com even thought don’t have any reason to be. I’ve posted links to my regular wordpress blog posts in FB, and they take me to a page that says Not Found.

  If I type in hipme.wordpress.com, it takes me to hipme.com which is the wrong site.

  If I never registered hipme.com w WordPress but simply bought the domain mapping in ignorance but obv never set it up, why is hipme.wordpress.com linking to hipme.com?

  I would love to get this settled. I am sorry to be obnoxious, I don’t mean to be. It’s just that I was SO excited to get this started and everyone wants to read about this so I thought wordpress would be a great way to get info across and gather a readership about this health issue. So I’m super bummed about this holdup. :)

  Before yesterday my regular hipme.wordpress.com was working fine. It’s only when I pressed a button to update the “domain mapped” hipme.com to connect them that it failed and now I was unable to read my blog, the bit started connecting the the other persons hipme.com blog.

  Looks like Domain Mapping has been removed and refunded. hipme.wordpress.com should be working fine once again.

  Thank you very much!!
  It is working as far as people being able to view it, but I am experiencing a couple of bugs.
  I have done all the work so far on my ipad. I cleared my history so it wouldn’t remember hipme.com.

  When I go to the wordpress app on my ipad and click on my blog to view it, it still takes me to hipme.com. Also when I type it into safari, even tho my history is deleting and I am typing the correct address, it still goes to hipme.com.

  You may need to remove and re-add the site on the app due to the name change.
