I broke my WordPress site

I have a very simple wordpress site, several pages and links to my modest tech-writing portfolio. Anyway it was suggested I instal an SSL certificate, so I tried doing that through my hosting services’ control panel. Then when I tried to log in, for some reason I couldn’t, so I tried to back out, by deleting the SSL certificate via the control panel. Now, the site doesn’t load. The hosting service basically say it’s not their problem, which is probably true. If I try and log in to the admin panel, I get this error:

    HTTP Error 403.14 – Forbidden
The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.

So I think I’ve broken something in the back-end and am not sufficiently tech literate to figure out what.

I can open my config.php in Atom, if that helps.

    Hello @sunyavadi,

Could you please share the URL of the WordPress.com website you are seeking support for?

Also, since you mentioned Control Panel, please confirm if you are using WordPress.com or the open-source source from WordPress.org.
You can know about the difference here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

I hope you find this information useful,

    Regards,

actually it’s a wordpress.org site, hosted by a service provider – so I guess I’ve posted this in the wrong forum.
