I came back and my content is gone.

I hadn’t checked my blog for quite awhile and when I came back the entire site had changed and my content is gone. I understand, I left it idle for quite awhile, but I’m wondering if there is any way to access my old blog posts? Are they archived anywhere?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi, just to check – you’re referring to https://grannyrandom.wordpress.com in particular?

The reason I ask is that if I check on the information we have for it, I see you were able to make some changes to it within the last 24 hours, but other than that it doesn’t appear to have had any changes within the last 12 or so years before that – no content added or removed.

Is there any chance that your blog posts might be associated with a different WordPress.com account of yours?

As far as I know this is the only account that I have ever had, and it did sit idle for a long time. The name I had on it was Pepperoni Pasties of the Apocolypse, but I changed it when I started redoing it yesterday. There were probably less than 10 entries on it, but I never cleaned it out so I figured there was maybe a purge of old accounts when the WordPress site was updated. I can do a little searching and see if somehow I have more than one account, but i didn’t remove anything.

I tried to search and see if I could find anything at all and I can’t even get my current page to come up using granny random. Is there somewhere that I should be entering some keywords or something, it seems weird I can’t get it to come up at all

We don’t take any action on websites regardless of how old or inactive the site is. Only the site owner can delete content on their sites and any activity on those sites are recorded in our logs. As we mentioned previously, there has been no activity on grannyrandom.wordpress.com in the past 12 years aside from a few changes in the last 24 hours.

If you’re trying to search your website on Google, it would not be cached since your site is private. It also isn’t cached on Archive.org because the site is private.

Without more information (like another site URL, username, or alternative email address that could have been used to set up a site), there isn’t much else we can do here.

I did have some email addresses that could have been used that are no longer accessible. They are (email visible only to moderators and staff) and (email visible only to moderators and staff). I also could have used (email visible only to moderators and staff). I’d be interested to see if you find anything under those emails.

I didn’t realize my site was private, but that makes sense. How do I change it so it’s not private.

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

I checked those three emails and did not find any WordPress.com accounts connected to them.

From your dashboard, you should be able to see launch your site button:

Let me know if you do not see that when logged in.
