I can never receive comments – they’re all blocked by Akismet

I just can’t believe they’re all spam, unless they don’t come from the same subject/spammer (which I don’t consider likely). I would like to decide myself if the comments I receive are spam or not. Is there any possibility to de-activate Akismet?

Thank you everybody.

Akismet gives you the option to check the comments it’s marked as spam, so you can go through and despam any that aren’t. This way it will learn what to let through.

No,I just can’t despam anything! For instance, here’s what I found today:

Akismet has protected your site from 3 spam comments already, ma al momento non c’è nulla nella coda di spam.
(the Italian part means “but at the moment there is nothing in your spam queue”

And if I click on “Spam queue”, I read this message:

Spam Bloccato
Akismet ha bloccato 3 messaggi di spam da quando lo hai installato.
Non c’è spam in coda di moderazione. Deve essere il tuo giorno fortunato. :)

(Spam Blocked – Akismet blocked 3 spam messages since you installed it. There is no spam in your moderation queue. It must be your lucky day)

As you can see, I just have no possibility to read messages that Akismet consider spam, and possibly despam them.

Thank you

What is the URL of your blog? http://investirebene.wordpress.com only has the hello world post. Is that the one you are talking about?

After a certain amount of time (15 days?) the comments which Akismet has identified as spam are automatically deleted and you can’t see them. If those comments are newer than that, then contact staff.

Actually the URL of the blog I’m referring to is http://luganoinvest.wordpress.com/

I’ve left you a comment. Doesn’t look like Akismet blocked it.

I see the problem. Go to settings > general and deselect “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” under “Membership.” Then click “save changes” at the bottom of the page. I’ve seen times when this somehow magically gets changed somehow. It’s happened to me.

Thanks to rosclarke. I see your comment.

And thanks to thesacredpath. I deselected that choice as you suggested. Maybe this is the problem that didn’t allow unlogged people to leave comments. Only I would have liked to find something in the spam queue, but I alwsys found it empty.

Thank you both.

There are some Akismet issues and staff has claimed that when the number goes up, but you don’t find anything in the spam queue, that it is because Akismet is over reporting.

I don’t know if I buy that, but I have no proof to the contrary.

I have been wondering about this too as I am getting comments on my blog but have noticed that the apparent number of spam items I have been protected against is increasing daily however I don’t see anything in my spam queue.

Overnight, apparently there have been 3 more spam messages but nothing for me to check and de-spam if necessary. :?
