I can no longer customise my theme

    I can no longer customise my theme and I think there’s something fundamental here because some plugins fail, too.

    When I click on ‘cutomise’ in the management panel the new page is loaded and in the left hand column at the top it says “You are customizing”.

    That is the only thing displayed, both in the column and in the main window – which is completely blank.

    How do I get my site configurable again ? It’s functional but I can’t change configuration, such as add widgets.

    Hello @melodyinsights,

    I am thinking it could be an occurrence of hidden controls. On the bottom left of your screen, do you see a tiny play button like which turns blue over a hover? Try clicking on that & see if it works.

    If I my suggestion fails, please forgive my attempt.

    If you are on an upgraded WordPress.com plan , you are entitled for live chat with the staff.

    When you are logged into WordPress.com, click on the blue and white ? icon in the lower right corner to access all of our Help resources. Then, click the Contact Us button. Type your question in the box under “How can we help?” and then press Chat with us to begin the chat session. Alternatively, you can contact us here.

    Thank you for the response.

    For the time being I have dumped the problem on the theme vendor. Their free version works and the Pro one doesn’t after suddenly failing after a year.

    I may come back to WordPress support. And yes, this is a Business plan site.

    This is also an issue on the free theme Penscratch 2.

    Not only does the Menu not update, but it doesn’t display the widgets on the right hand side that I have inserted.

    I am given the option of default or full width display for my pages, and when choosing default, no widgets are shown on the right.
